Stylist, Seamstress and Fashion Designer
I am fashion..... "Through prayer, persistence and passion I have been able to accomplish my goals!"To some individuals a trend is just a fad but to me it indicates change....color is just another hue but in my eyes it transcends emotion.....for some individuals cloth is just fabric but to me it creates movement....for some people fashion is obsolete but to me it's my LIFE!Wonder Years...Since the inquisitive age of five, I can clearly remember sitting at the kitchen counter of our NE Philly home sketching silhouettes of skirts, all while thinking to myself...'I wonder if I could do this as a job?" You can only imagine the excitement that entered into my heart when my mother lovingly said "yes, you can, they are called fashion designers!"From that moment forth, despite any challenge, disapproval or discouragement I have managed to continue to push forward my innate talent, to beautify the world.College Life...Seeking a traditional education from a prestigious university, I attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA to study Marketing at the Mason School of Business and Sociology full-time. While in college I studied in Europe for a year, living in major cities such as Florence, Milan & Paris. During this time, I was able to take up fashion business courses as well as enroll into Parsons Paris School of Art & Design Fashion Studies Program where I was successfully able to connect my experience and interest in fashion construction; and as a result my creativity has become boundless.Expressing my leadership at W&M, a few of my peers and I developed our campus' first fashion club, uniquely called, 'Cobble Stone Couture.' Within that same semester myself and a few other students collectively organized William & Mary's first student designer fashion show case. This fashion show finally allowed me the chance to develop the confidence necessary in order to continue to prove to the world my one of a kind talent!Real World...Promptly after graduating from W&M in 2007 I was able to secure an internship with the RP55 Group (which houses urban and celebrity brands such as A.K.O.O Clothing Brand and Play Cloths). Within five months of interning, a full-time position became available; and since that moment continuous opportunities have followed. I have lived in NYC working with contemporary fashion brands like Laundry by Shelli Segal. With years of fashion design knowledge as well as actual industry experience in various fields, I am gradually becoming the fashion mogul as I am destined to be.Now my services for wardrobe consultation, designing and styling are becoming increasingly requested; and in November of 2010 I debuted my first full collection at VA Fashion Week. My online boutique opened in January 2011 to offer divas one of a kind and stylish clothing & accessories. In Februray 2011 MIKASA | LA'CHARLES ready to wear and couture pieces will be made available at Posche Boutique....dreams do come true!Romans 12:12
