A Fear of Flying
I love adventure but at the mere thought of heights, goosebumps develop on my arms and shivers run through my body. Never have I been a fan of roller coasters and finally as a sophomore in college, I realized that I didn't have to get on them when attending William & Mary Day at Busch Gardens to prove to my friends just how cool I was. That year, I was still the coolest of friends but the one who would patiently wait while holding purses at the exit for my crew LOL.

To this day, I still question any plans my friends and family make that involves heights in which I am not on a plane; and my recent trip to Arizona was no exception. "It won't be scary," "you are going to love it!," "think of the cool photos you will be able to take while in the air" and "girl, you better do it" were various chants my girls told me in an effort to convince me that my fear of flying in a hot air balloon would be just fine. After asking a billion and one questions and getting reassurance from the owner that I would not experience a panic attack while on board, I said 'let's do it' and boy, am I glad that I did.
This was more than a hour excursion. Saying yes to this hot air balloon ride, directed me one step closer to my commitment to no longer pursue life hesitant, doubtful and fearful, but instead to use wise discernment and to always be fearless. The faith I have in God has grown in abundance over the years and has made me realize that 'everything always works out for the best.' Personally, 2020 has been a year of growth, self-discovery, self-development, serenity, mindfulness and fearlessness and digging deep to overcome this fear empowered me that my journey to believing in myself and letting go of doubt is in fact, in full flight!
